‘Enjoy, Learn, Achieve’
GARDEN HOUSE NURSERY
Our Commitment -
Making Early
Learning Fun
Our aim is to bring the Montessori method into the 21st
century incorporating it as a ‘way of life’ within our
nursery school.
We describe ourselves as ‘Montessori based’ because,
although the method and philosophy is part of everything
we do, we also use many other resources and activities
which work well together when delivering the Early Years
Foundation Stage.
We have sessions with music, early years exercise and
French speaking teachers each week. All our staff attend
regular training courses relating to the Early Years
Foundation Stage and Montessori education. We are
committed to our nursery school policies which are
always available for parents/carers to see in nursery
school. Key policies and procedures are contained in our
pack for ‘new parents’.
We take children on outings away from our nursery
school environment where we encourage parents and
carers to join us. We welcome any input from all family
members. Every child and their family is welcomed and
valued whatever their culture, belief or ability.
We aim to help each child to achieve their own personal
potential, independence and readiness for school, in a
comfortable and caring environment, based on the simple
premise of ‘making early learning fun’, the Montessori
way.
Our commitment is to inspire your children to enjoy
learning so much that they will become lifelong learners.
The early years’ curriculum is creative. Lots of activities
happen at the same time and it often appears that
children are simply doing what they want to do rather
than we as adults think they need to do. Children learn
best by being actively involved – doing, exploring and
finding out for themselves rather than being told.
Through ‘play’, young children learn social skills, moral
values, how to cope emotionally; extend their intellectual
skills and knowledge and understanding. The nursery
staff intervene, support and extend children’s learning
with questioning and high expectations of what they can
achieve, giving them confidence in their own ability. It is
through gaining confidence that children are successful.
